We’ll taste our way through one of Manhattan’s most vibrant and historic neighborhoods, discovering the stories behind iconic Lower East Side institutions and some exciting new favorites. Along the way, we’ll sample Kossar’s Bialys, the oldest bialy bakery in the country; Yonah Schimmel Knish Bakery; and Russ & Daughters, the legendary specialty food shop. We’ll also stop at Pickle Guys and discover some of the neighborhood’s amazing new pizzerias, including Johnny’s, and Scar’s.
Our journey also includes a visit to Eldridge Street Synagogue and Museum, one of the oldest surviving synagogues in the United States and a true Lower East Side gem.
